Being in Oman is a learning experience in its own right and we have large team of specialists in many areas of interest who are delighted to share their knowledge with you. We can design your holiday to include interest areas such as culture, geology, birding, marine environment, archaeology, social & military history, craft, painting, perfume, photography and botany. Our friendly team can help you determine a series of half-day, full-day or overnight programmes focusing on as few or as many interests as you desire.
Marine Environment
Omantravel Ltd pioneered live-aboard sailing dhow cruises in 2004 when we chartered the only sailing dhow in the Indian Ocean, SY Sanjeeda, to provide our customers with a wonderful opportunity to enjoy marine environment, photography & archaeology over a single week which still lives on in the memories of those fortunate enough to book their holiday with us. Experts from the Muscat-based Whale & Dolphin Research Association carried out a programme onboard whilst acting as guides for our visitors.
Geology
Oman has some of the earth's most spectacular and technically fascinating geology and is a prime destination for both professional and 'hobby' geologists from all over the world. Over the last few years Omantravel has worked with the Geologists' Association to organise three 14-day field trips to Oman for groups of around 20 geologists. For those visitors with limited time, we are delighted to offer 1 or 2 day field trips, led by members of the Geological Society of Oman.
Birding
Oman is also on one of the most important routes for migratory birds between Eurasia and Africa. Watching and studying these birds with one of our local ornithologists will give you an unforgettable experience. For a very special experience combining birding and photography we can arrange for your small group to be led and guided by Hanne and Jens Eriksen, world-famous ornithologists and prize-winning bird and wildlife photographers.
Other Special Interests
We have organised a whole range of other different special interest holidays for our individual guests, including, perfume, social & military history, archaeology, botany, craft, photography as well as our unique 'Just For Ladies' programme. Omantravel Ltd also arranges painting holidays with local Omani and UK artists. There is a wonderful range of subjects in Oman for all tastes and skill levels.
Organised Groups
Alternatively, we can design a comprehensive specialist tour around an interest area for your family, friends, club, society or association. As we believe it is important to make this a perfect experience for all participants, we will spend as much time as it needs to get it right! We have organised many successful groups and would be delighted for you to talk to these organisers when planning your own project.
